As a teacher myself there are some key points of advice that I'd like to give to our viewers.
When competing against a hundred or more applicants it’s always wise to
be as prepared as possible! Sometimes when we’re out of the loop for
too long we forget these things. (In the state of Pennsylvania there
are usually 100 or more applicants to each education job that you see
due to recent college graduates and others looking to transfer)
Aside from having your resume updated and letters of recommendation you will also need the following updated:
1. Criminal record background check.
2. Child abuse history clearance.
3. FBI fingerprinting.
4. Updated Physical
5. Official college transcripts
Districts will REQUIRE you to have those clearances current to within one year at the point of hire! It takes a few weeks of turn around time for the clearances to arrive so try to be quick about getting them done.
School districts typically only allow
their postings to be open for a week or two at the most. This means
that you have to be diligent at checking for them in a timely manner.
Try to keep track of all of the school districts that you apply to so that ou don't accidentally apply to the same school twice. Keeping a simple list on paper works good.
We have helped many clients in the past and look forward to helping the teachers in Pennsylvania secure their future.
Much thanks! And best wishes!
